The Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa is Florida’s premier AAA Four Diamond destination island resort, matched in perfect harmony with nature. Located on the southern end of historic Amelia Island on over 1,350 acres, Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa welcomes guests to enjoy the natural beauty of the coastal low country. Majestic moss-covered oaks surrounded by lush gardens of a variety of woody species, Omni Amelia Island is an idyllic example of the unique maritime canopy environment of coastal Florida.
Arboretum Accreditation serves to celebrate and preserve the horticultural collections and provide awareness and educational materials regarding the importance of biodiversity and the conservation and preservation of species’ habitat.
With a strong focus on conservation and education, Omni Amelia Island is proud to be an accredited Arbnet arboretum. With over 25 species of trees and woody plants, the gardens provide guests with the opportunity to explore, relax, and learn about this uniquely beautiful natural environment.
The Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa property includes a Nature Center staffed by naturalists who provide guided experiences on the property and the surrounding area and a fully stocked retail shop stocked with supplies that may be used during guided and self-guided activities. Currently offered by the Nature Center is an Amelia Island tour, which involves visiting the three ecosystems of a barrier island. Participants learn about the flora and fauna of the surrounding local area, from the sandy dunes and tidal salt marsh to the lush forest of the property.
Accreditation as an arboretum enhances the property and adds to the activities available on the property that allow a connection with nature. The educational experience increases the programs and experiences offered to guests on the property, such as a guided tour with a naturalist or a self-guided tour. Guests and visitors can utilize an iNaturalist online map or reference a QR code by scanning species-specific signs along a manicured walkway.
