Fatsia japonica, or Japanese aralia, is a flowering plant in the Araliaceae native to southern Japan and southern Korea.

It is a striking shrub that thrives in shade and moist conditions. The enormous lobed leaves grow to almost a foot wide, and the plant grows up to 8 feet tall. The flower clusters are white and appear in the fall.

It is an evergreen shrub that can grow up to 16 feet tall with stout and sparsely branched stems. The leaves are spirally arranged and are made of ong leather, palmately lobed, and divided to half or two-thirds of the way to the base of the leaf.
