Established circa 1798, Bosque Bello Cemetery is the oldest cemetery in Fernandina Beach and a highly significant cultural resource for Amelia Island. Resting place to thousands of people, Bosque Bello (“Beautiful Woods” in Spanish) is situated in the original town of Fernandina, now known as Old Town. Bosque Bello’s 34 acres were originally part of the Spanish Land Grants.
The City of Fernandina Beach has owned and operated the cemetery since as early as 1857, as documented on City plats.
