This residential arboretum* is designed to maximize the number of Northeast Florida native plants while providing a variety of interesting and productive non-native and naturalized species in a relatively small area. In addition to the endemic species present when the property was purchased in June 2017, an ongoing process of renewal (as previous plants were lost to age, climate change, and storm damage) and acquisition has resulted in a unique, thriving collection. To enhance the focus on and expand the number NE Florida native plants on the site, a native plant garden was created in March of 2023. The native plant garden continues to evolve as new species are added, focusing strongly on providing a habitat for butterflies and pollinators, especially those that have only one host plant (e.g., Monarchs).
