Yew Plum Pine (North 3rd & Alachua)
Podocarpus macrophyllus, known as the yew plum pine, Buddhist pine, or Kusamaki, is used widely as a landscape plant here on Amelia Island.
Native to southern Japan and China, the yew plum pine is a species referred to as a “living fossil”. Podocarpaceae were were found on the ancient supercontinent of Gondwana, which broke up between 105 and 45 million years ago!
