Osmanthus fragrans, also known as sweet osmanthus, sweet olive, tea olive, and fragrant olive, is a flowering plant species native to Asia, from the Himalayas through the provinces of Guizhou, Sichuan, and Yunnan in China, southern Japan, and Southeast Asia as far as Cambodia and Thailand.

It is an evergreen shrub or small tree growing up to 40ft tall. The leaves grow up to 6 inches long and 2 inches broad. The flowers are white, pale yellow, yellow, or orange-yellow. The plant has a strong fragrance and is produced in small clusters in late summer and autumn. The fruit is a purple-black drupe containing a single hard-shelled seed that matures about six months after flowering.
