Known for its pollinator-friendly flowers, Mimosa strigillosa (Sunshine Mimosa or Powderpuff) is a perennial groundcover native to the southeastern United States.

As a legume, it is a nitrogen-fixer, converting atmospheric nitrogen into a form usable by plants, enriching the soil in which it grows. Its mat-forming nature and drought tolerance make it an excellent choice for xeriscaping, a landscaping method that reduces or eliminates the need for supplemental water from irrigation​​. It spreads rapidly, with just a few pots capable of covering a large area within a single growing season.
