In North Florida, pecan trees are not just a common sight in commercial groves, but also a vital part of the ecosystem. They thrive in the rich bottomland soils of floodplains and valleys, playing a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance.

The Pecan tree is a large deciduous tree that can grow up to 131 feet in height. Its leaves are alternate and up to 18 inches long and pinnate with 9 – 17 leaflets. The fruit is not truly a nut but technically a drupe with a single stone or pit surrounded by a husk.
