Buddleja davidii, commonly known as the butterfly bush, summer lilac, or orange eye, attracts butterflies with copious nectar. This species is part of the flowering family Scrophulariaceae and is native to central China and Japan.

The butterfly bush is a vigorous shrub with an arching habit growing up to 16 ft tall. The pale brown bark becomes deeply fissured with age. The leaves can grow up to 5 inches long. The honey-lilac scented to purple inflorescences and terminal panicles.
