Asimina triloba, the American Papaw, Pawpaw, Paw paw, or Pawpaw, among many regional names, is a small deciduous tree native to the eastern United States and southern Ontario, Canada. It produces a large yellowish-green to brown fruit. Asimina is the only temperate genus in the tropical and subtropical flowering plant family Annonaceae.

The Pawpaw forms in patches in the understory of trees in hardwood forests, which are well-drained, deep, fertile bottomland and hilly upland habitats. It has simple leaves with drip tips. Pawpaw fruits are the largest edible fruit indigenous to the United States.

Pawpaw fruits, with their sweet, custard-like texture and flavor reminiscent of banana, mango, and pineapple, are not just for snacking. They are commonly eaten raw, but can also be used to make ice cream, and baked desserts, showcasing their versatility in the kitchen.
