The Oppositeleaf Spotflower is a native herbaceous perennial in the Asteraceae Sunflower Family. It is known for its rarity in the Southeastern and central United States. It thrives in terrestrial habitats, especially along roadsides and stream banks on the Coastal Plain.

This plant is a creeping prostrate stem that roots in contact with the soil and will even be produced in the water. The stems are usually green or reddish. The leaves are petiolate to ovate. Flowers are yellow disc-shaped. It will survive in full or partial sun.
