Acer palmatum 'Rhode Island Red' (Japanese Maple 'Rhode Island Red')
Acer palmatum 'Rhode Island Red' (Japanese Maple 'Rhode Island Red')

Acer palmatum ‘Rhode Island Red,’ commonly known as the Japanese Maple ‘Rhode Island Red.’ It is a perennial deciduous dwarf tree that reaches up to 6 ft tall and wide. It prefers filtered sun, full sun, partial shade, and partial sun, and the soil should be consistently moist but not soggy.

This spectacular dwarf Japanese maple has dense, compact branching on an upright habit and a rounded, ovate crown. The stunning palate foliage emerges red in spring and deepens as it ages. Cooler fall temperatures bring orange tones. Red stems add color to the bare winter silhouette, making it well-suited for use as a container specimen.
