Ilex opaca (American Holly)

Ilex opaca, the American holly, is a species of holy, native to eastern and south central United States from coastal Massachusetts south to central Florida, and west southeastern Missouri and eastern Texas.

It is a medium-sized broadleaved evergreen tree growing on average 33 – 66 ft side and up to 98 ft tall. the bark is light gray, roughed by small warty lumps. The leaves are wide, stiff, yellow green and dull matte to sub-shiny above, often yellow beneath; the ledges are curved into several shark, spike like points and a wedge shaped base.
